Fan

I'm going to get out my haterade and go hard with this one. Quick update first though. Just arrived back in St. Louis from a wonderful weekend full of 13.8 different flights and 2 hotels. Rochester and Atlanta. Don't ask me why but for some reason we like to fly form St. Louis through Atlanta to get to Rochester. Then after we finish bizzz (aka play our game friday night in Rochester) we go back to the hotel and get cozy at approximately 11:30 p.m. but with the HBO shows and one of my new favorite shoes, Storm Chaser's marathon on, we don't fall asleep until about 1. Luckily, we got a long nights rest for our next day of traveling waking up before the sun decided to show his face at 5:45 and left for the airport. This time we got fancy with it again and flew from Rochester through Cleveland to Atlanta. We sat around in a plane for 2 hours on the ground and entertained ourselves by trying to turn people's little fans above their heads off while they weren't looking. For those who fell asleep there was no mercy-their fan would be turned off and they would wake up in a heatflash sweating profusely. It was a fun weekend though with 2 big games won and now, like I said, were back at our home-Phi Slamma Jamma and I couldn't be happier.

Onto the good stuff. Why is this called Fan you ask? Because of one man named Sean Wallis. I'd like to take some shots at him in a playful yet semi-not-so-serious tone. 1. He constantly asks me to update my blog when I'm not very funny in the first place and I'm pretty sure no one reads it..except him. 2. From now on I will refer to Sean directly because chances are Sean, that you are the only one who will read this because no one cares except my mother and I have a total of 9 followers (more than I anticipated) so you make up my fanbase 3. Today at Emory, their fans-now don't ask me how they thought of this because its genius-would chant "loser" whenever Sean did something and I don't update my blog for "losers". 4. Sean aka "I have so much swag I'm going to walk with a semi hop limp type thing and make jokes with people showing how cool I am" you should have extended your contract with d3hoops because I've heard they are trying to find someone with some actual talent to continue in your weak BOTH-ankle taped footsteps and that will be yours truly.

Now I have homework to attend to, hope you enjoyed it gramps

A quick explanation

So after getting hundreds upon hundreds of requests to keep this thing going I've decided to get my P on (get my post on) and write another. I'd like to take some time out of my not regularly scheduled blogging to explain both my drichter2.o and my nickname-volt. First, Drichter2.o-hopefully you've all heard of new technology being referred to as -for example, microsoft 2.o, and my jersey number just happens to be 20 so I figured why not refer to myself as an upgraded version of myself which has a double meaning standing for my jersey number too! Thats where that clever piece of nickname came from. Now for the Volt. This has some history behind it. Last year, a wide-eyed, eager, energetic freshman named Dylan joined the Wash U basketball team. Him, along with his 4 compadres made up of Alex, Caleb, Ross, and John who were the substitutes who came off the bench for the starters decided they needed to "spark" the games with their uncanny basketball talent, thus, the Sparkz were born. A group so famous already that fairy tales and urban legend stories have been told about them for hundreds of years (although they were made last year). With this new 6th man group formed, all needed nicknames so mine became Voltage because I didn't know what else to do and it had to do with sparks and electricity. The other members were Stormcloud, Thunder, Lightening, and
Flash...and that is where Volt came from.
What's the best part of playing division 3 basketball here @ Wash U? We get to miss 2 days of classes every time we have away games in conference. We get to go to the greatest cities in the midwest-Chicago, Atlanta, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Rochester..kinda, Boston, and New York-and we get to miss Thursday and Friday class because of it. Does it make it harder to get good grades? Maybe, but not when your...not worried about good grades. The philosophy is get your diploma-it looks like everyone else's. I'm not saying I don't try but here at Wash U we don't have mandatory study hours, assigned tutors, or teachers who necessarily know we even have a basketball team here. (Half of the students live and die in the library so they don't know either). Its tough but I'm still alive and whatever doesn't kill me makes me alive longer. Time to pack for a nice trip to Cleveland. See you there-Volt

1st post

I owe everything to 2 people. Danny Bricker and Club Trillion. After hearing about his successful blog from Danny I figured-if you have a division 1 benchwarmer doing wonderful things on blogspot and entertaining TONS of people why not get some perspective from a different but identical basketball player. Try a division 3 player (player meaning one who plays in games). Different=division 1 basketball compared to division 3 basketball. Identical=Division 1 benchwarmer=Division 3 player. I hope to inform you in this blog about the life of a normal college student who happens to play basketball for his school (Washington University--where?-- in St. Louis-Go Bears!). Later in life my friend and teammate Jake Seymour plans to write a book titled something along the lines of Life of An Ordinary Athlete-I'm not sure if the a in an should be capitalized for a book title but I did it-I'm a business major, not english). Keep your eyes pealed in about 5 years for that one. I'd love to keep going but I have homework to attend to. This will be used as a diary/journal for me-I'm expecting a following of 15-16 people-12 of which will be family members-the other 4 friends on my team-so do I care if people see my blood, sweat and finger tears spent on this blog? no. I do need a nickname-and i will explain my drichter2.o in a later post-I'm leaning towards Volt which will also be explained in a later post.
-Until next time-Volt
